Position Overview:
Our Client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Tax Manager. This opportunity is ideal for a proven people leader with deep technical knowledge, strong client management capabilities, and a passion for developing others. Reporting to the Managing Shareholder, this position comes with an existing book of business and the full support of the Firm to manage, grow, and enhance the practice area. There is a direct path to Shareholder for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing tax team; foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture.
· Manage the full client lifecycle from onboarding through compliance and advisory engagements, serving as a key client contact and relationship manager.
· Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns, including C Corporations (1120), S Corporations (1120S), Partnerships (1065), and Individuals (1040).
· Oversee corporate income tax provisions (including deferred tax items and uncertain tax positions), and quarterly/annual reporting for public and private companies.
· Deliver strategic tax planning and consulting services for corporations, pass-through entities, and individuals, including scenario modeling (BNA projections) and identification of tax-saving opportunities.
· Research and resolve complex tax issues, drafting memoranda and recommendations for clients and internal teams.
· Manage and delegate work to tax staff and senior accountants, providing technical review, coaching, and performance feedback.
· Collaborate with firm leadership on business development, staffing, and operational initiatives; identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
· Actively engage in community, industry, and firm events as a visible and trusted representative of the firm.
· Ensure all client work is conducted in compliance with firm policies and applicable federal, state, and international regulations.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA license required.
· 10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, with exposure across corporate, partnership, and individual returns.
· Proven track record of people leadership, mentorship, and team development.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build client trust and challenge perspectives constructively.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
· Experience with performance management, KPIs, and process improvement.
· Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills, focused on firm-wide success and client service excellence.
