The organization is a leading provider of solutions implementation and operational improvement services, supporting public sector health, education, and human services agencies across the country.


Position Overview:

The firm is seeking a seasoned and accomplished attorney to succeed its current General Counsel, who plans to retire later this year. This role reports directly to the firm’s Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer and serves as a member of the senior management team. The General Counsel will be responsible for providing timely, responsive, and practical legal advice on matters affecting the company and its affiliates. This position calls for a highly self-directed, hands-on leader who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, bring strong business acumen, and proactively advise the leadership team in a fast-paced public sector contracting environment. The role can be largely remote; however, the ability to be in the Boston office on a regular basis is preferred. 


Candidate Profile:

The General Counsel will bring broad legal experience, including senior in-house leadership, along with strong legal judgment and business acumen. This individual will lead collaboratively in a fast-paced, public sector-focused environment and serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Board, and senior leadership team. The role also includes serving as Secretary to the Board and strengthening board-level legal support, including preparation for board and shareholder meetings, governance materials, and records management. Overall, the position requires a balance of strategic perspective and hands-on execution to support thoughtful growth, manage risk, and advance the organization’s long-term success.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership in an in-house role and, preferably, service as a General Counsel reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, with a minimum of 20 years of professional legal experience.
  • Experience supporting government contracting organizations, including familiarity with procurement rules, contract negotiations with state and local entities, and audit and investigation processes (including Medicaid audits).
  • Strong corporate and transactional experience, including M&A, ideally on both the buy-side and sell-side.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and manage business risk using sound legal and practical judgment, with proven experience operating successfully in a complex business environment.


The base salary range for this position is $275,000 - $425,000 and does not include benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to the role, function, and associated responsibilities, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
