Based in Providence, RI, FSRI is a comprehensive non-profit social service organization that manages programs across Rhode Island. Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Leadership:

·        Plan, direct, and coordinate all financial and accounting operations.

·        Supervise, mentor/train, and recruit/retain Finance staff while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

·        Maintain the general ledger; manage accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.

·        Manage the monthly and year-end financial close processes and ensure timelines are met.

·        Produce financial reports and materials on a monthly and ad hoc basis.

·        Clearly present financial information to organization leaders, colleagues, funders, and others.

Budget Management:

·        Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process.

·        Develop and/or review program budgets, budget justifications, and funder financial reporting in conjunction with Finance and program staff.

Compliance and Process Improvement:

·        Review and approve/reject expenditures, including employee expense reports, ensuring proper coding, documentation, approvals, and overall compliance with FSRI’s purchasing and other applicable policies; provide training to staff as needed.

·        Maintain financial records in compliance with relevant financial standards (such as GAAP) and with state and federal regulations (such as the IRS).

·        Support the organization’s annual audit and Form 990 preparation, as well as manage other audits/regulatory filings as needed.

 

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related degree; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA or CPA preferred.

·        Extensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.

·        Strong financial leadership, carrying best practices to the organization, coupled with a hands-on, “get the job done,” tactical work style.

·        Success managing month-end and year-end close processes and timelines.

·        High proficiency in accounting and financial management systems and business operations, as well as in the use of standard office software.

·        Proven experience managing finance teams with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff.

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information and work effectively with non-financial colleagues at all levels.

 

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $150,000, plus additional benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to the role, function, and associated responsibilities, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
