Commercial Loan Officer

Apply

We are pleased to share with you an exciting Commercial Loan Officer opportunity with Ascend Bank (http://www.ascend.bank). Founded in 1875, our client is a highly regarded mutual bank serving individuals, families, and businesses across Connecticut. Formerly Guilford Savings Bank, our client has grown into a $1.5 billion asset institution with twelve banking locations, a strong digital platform, and an expanding footprint throughout Connecticut and neighboring states. In 2025, Ascend Bank completed the successful acquisition of Eastern Connecticut Savings Bank, further expanding its market presence.

This is a compelling opportunity to help build and expand a commercial lending platform within a stable, growth oriented community bank of scale. Commercial Loan Officers are given both autonomy and institutional support to develop profitable C&I and CRE relationships, deepen client partnerships, and contribute meaningfully to the Bank’s strategic growth initiatives. The role blends business development, relationship management, and disciplined credit execution within a collaborative, low bureaucracy environment.

Position Overview:

  • Drive business growth by attracting, developing, and managing a diversified commercial lending portfolio.
  • Cultivate strong, profitable relationships, cross-sell compelling product/service offerings, and consistently deliver high-quality service.
  • Proactively identify and develop new and expanding relationships in the Bank’s strategic lending area (south central and eastern CT), throughout the State, and selectively beyond.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A minimum of five to eight years of commercial (C&I) and/or CRE lending experience (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, business development, decision-making, communication, and presentation skills.

The base salary range for this position is $165,000 to $190,000, plus additional benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors, including role scope, responsibilities, experience, and internal equity.
