We are conducting an exciting retained search to recruit Metro Credit Union’s (www.metrocu.org) new Chief Financial Officer. With $3.2 billion in assets and approximately 220,000 members, Metro is the largest state-chartered credit union based in Massachusetts. Headquartered in Chelsea and founded in 1926, our Client enjoys a reputation for exceptional member service and extraordinary commitment to the communities it serves. Metro operates 18 full-service branches throughout Greater Boston, with membership including those who live/work/go to school and/or own businesses throughout MA (except Berkshire County) and much of Southern New Hampshire. 


Reporting to the President & CEO, this is an outstanding opportunity to help lead and strategically grow a progressive and highly regarded Financial Services organization of scale. Metro has enjoyed profitable growth, while maintaining prudent risk management and strong asset quality. 


Key priorities include:

  • As a collaborative partner, shape strategy, provide fiscal management, and drive business imperatives.
  • Participate in developing and implementing short- and long-range plans, strategies, and policies to help achieve the Credit Union’s goals.
  • Directly manage the Accounting & Finance Department. Oversee financial reporting, accounting and internal control environment, investment, asset liability management, profitability and budgeting, regulatory reporting, and funds management functions.
  • Bring best practices to drive continuous improvement. Ensure the proper infrastructure, systems, controls, reporting capabilities, and people are in place to effectively grow the Credit Union and ensure long-term financial strength and operating efficiency. 
  • Leverage data and technology to automate/streamline workflow and enhance the member experience. 


The successful candidate will bring:

  • Minimum ten years of Finance & Accounting management experience (or equivalent). 
  • Financial Services industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (or equivalent).
  • Public Accounting experience and/or Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.
